Some places we've been and some places we're going.

The nice old Clubrooms.

I remember having a lovely meal at the Golf Course clubrooms many years ago but in early 2018 it apparently became uneconomical to keep the course going and since then things have deteriorated.

Golfers wouldn’t be happy about the state of the course but it’s a nice place to walk especially since you’re not expected to hit a ball then walk after it again and again until it eventually falls in a hole.

Dogs on leads are allowed on the course.

There are native plants and feral ones on the course.

I was surprised that we didn’t see any wallabies or kangaroos but there was some wildlife about.

  1. Love this post Sue. John and I walked there last Saturday morning and visited the old “pro golf shop” next to the Belair Country Club. It has just opened as a coffee shop called “The Goat Shed”. The couple, Deb and Ian, have applied to open up the NP with lots more bike tracks. They have bikes there for hire. They are diversifying their tour business called “escapegoat” (www.escapegoat.com.au) which does tours anywhere and everywhere, including wine tours to the Barossa and McLaren Vale. They also do camps and skills training. They will customise tours to suit the group. They will even pick up bikers from a “downward ride” so they do not have to return home travelling “uphill”. They only have a six month lease and were meeting with the Environment/Education ministers yesterday for more discussions. I hope they are successful. PS there is a guy called Nathan who makes great coffee! 😎

    • The “Escapegoats” live not far from us and I too hope they’re successful in their business. I hope someone takes over the clubhouse.
